Zelensky imposes sanctions against sponsors of Russia's war in Ukraine

He reported that with the first decree, Ukraine synchronized Canadian sanctions against individuals and legal entities working for the Russian war .

“Together with our partners, we are also preparing a decision on synchronizing Ukrainian sanctions in the jurisdictions of our partners. All those who help Russia continue killing and build a military machine for further aggression must feel real pressure from the world,” the president emphasized.

According to the decree, the sanctions apply to citizens of Russia, Croatia, Austria, the United States, Ukraine, Belarus and Iran.

As for legal entities, there are companies from Russia, Switzerland, UAE, Singapore, Mali, Sudan, Latvia, Germany, China, Belarus, Cyprus and the Central African Republic.

With his second decree, Zelensky imposed sanctions against 28 citizens of different countries who help the Russians maintain the occupation regime of the land and, in fact, sponsor Russia.

“We are also working with law enforcement agencies of partner countries on each name of such individuals. All accomplices of the Russian occupiers will be held accountable in one way or another for what they have done against Ukraine and Ukrainians,” the head of state emphasized.

According to the decree, there are four Iranian citizens on this list, and the rest are Russian and Ukrainian. In particular, among those with Ukrainian passports:

  • “military correspondents” Elena Bobkova, Renat Shavlo, Alexey Gavrish and Dmitry Makeev;
  • former advisor to the leader of the “LPR” Yulia Velichko;
  • “ombudsman” in the occupied Kherson region, Sergei Georgiev;
  • Crimean entrepreneurs Vladimir Vylegzhanin and Vladimir Koteljak;
  • Pin-Up casino owners Igor and Marina Ilyin.

At the same time, the War Sanctions portal noted that Oleksiy Garmash is a direct participant in the Russian Federation’s information war against Ukraine. In June 2024, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine informed him in absentia of suspicion of collaborationist activity.

After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Garmash began actively cooperating with the propaganda resource News Front. In his reports and posts, he systematically discredits the Ukrainian Defense Forces, as well as spreads disinformation about the course of military operations and promotes the Kremlin’s narratives.

“In addition, Gavrish’s activities include logistical support for the occupation forces. His Telegram channel is a platform for organizing fundraising for the needs of the Russian army. In particular, his fundraising for the purchase of vehicles for units of the Russian Armed Forces operating in the Pokrovsky direction has been documented,” the portal reports.
