The government approved amendments to the 2025 State Budget, according to which an additional UAH 324.7 billion will be allocated for defense needs by the end of the year. Of this amount, over UAH 310 billion will go to the general fund, and over UAH 301 billion will go directly to the Ministry of Defense.
As Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko reported , the main areas for distributing funds are as follows:
- 202 billion UAH – for financial support of military personnel;
- 100 billion UAH – for the purchase of weapons, primarily drones of all types (including FPV on fiber optics, interceptor drones, deep-strike drones);
- 8 billion UAH – for other military expenses (military transportation, fuel, operating costs).
Svyrydenko named the 6 billion euros (approximately UAH 294.3 billion) that Ukraine will receive from the European Union as part of the G7 ERA (Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine) initiative as the main source of funding for additional expenditures. The budget will additionally receive almost UAH 30 billion through increased revenue, savings on debt payments, and reductions in non-priority spending.
The Prime Minister noted that this decision was dictated by the dynamics of the front and the need to quickly adapt spending to changing combat conditions, including due to Russia's intensified attacks on energy infrastructure. She emphasized that the drone purchase would be partially financed by frozen Russian assets, thanking her partners from the EU and G7 countries for this.
The next step is the Verkhovna Rada's review and adoption of the budget amendments. The government urges members of parliament to promptly approve the amendments to ensure the Defense Forces receive the necessary resources in a timely manner.
