The start of the heating season in Lviv is being postponed.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi announced that due to the situation in the country's power grid, the start of the heating season in the city will be delayed by several weeks. He wrote this in his address, emphasizing that Lviv is preparing for a potentially challenging winter.

"It really is cold. But the current situation in the country means we won't be able to turn on the heating for the next few weeks. We need to wait a little longer to do everything right—to ensure there's genuine warmth this winter," Sadovy noted.

According to him, starting tomorrow, Lviv will enter a life support systems testing mode. The city will check the operation of all services, resources, and mechanisms. For the first time, such tests will be conducted simultaneously throughout the city.

This weekend, traffic lights in Lviv will be disconnected from their main power supply and switched to an alternative power source to ensure they function properly during a blackout. Similar testing will also be conducted for the water, electricity, gas, public transportation, and communications systems.

"We at the mayor's office are doing everything necessary, but I ask Lviv residents: take care of yourselves. Organize alternative heating sources for yourselves and help those who can't cope on their own," the mayor said.

Sadovyi added that the nighttime attack on Kyiv demonstrated that the upcoming heating season could be challenging, and Lviv must be prepared for any developments.
