Syrsky: The situation on the front remains difficult, but the defense is active and effective

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky stated that the operational situation on the front remains difficult, but the Defense Forces continue to contain the enemy, stabilize the situation in the most dangerous areas, and inflict significant losses on the Russian army.

According to Syrsky, the Russian occupiers suffered 28,500 casualties in September. The fiercest fighting continues in the Liman, Pokrovsk, Dobropillya, and Novopavlivske directions. Ukrainian forces are conducting a counteroffensive operation near Dobropillya, where airborne assault units and assault regiments are halting and pushing back the enemy, who were planning to seize the entire Donetsk region.

"Our defense is active. Thank you to our soldiers for their resilience and effectiveness," Syrsky noted.

He reported that the enemy had increased the number of air attacks by 1.3 times over the past month. Despite this, the effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense remains at approximately 74%. The Commander-in-Chief emphasized the need to strengthen the protection of rear energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and logistics.

Syrsky also reported on the successes of the DeepStrike program: in September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out 70 strikes on Russian territory, specifically targeting facilities producing fuels, lubricants, and explosives. He also noted that oil refining in Russia has been reduced by 21%.

He announced the creation of a new branch of the armed forces—unmanned air defense systems within the Air Force—as well as the improvement of the assault force system and the formation of the Cyberforce command.

The optimization of the military command system continues in the Armed Forces. The joint operational and territorial command forces have completed their work, and their functions are being transferred to troop groups created on the basis of operational commands. The Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive a separate front sector with subordinate army corps.

During the working meeting, the Commander-in-Chief heard reports on anti-drone defense, restoring unit combat capability, equipment repair, and mobilization. He outlined the tasks for October, emphasizing that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are working around the clock to endure, preserve the state, its freedom, and independence.

"Once again, I thank my fellow soldiers for their dedication, bravery, and professionalism. Glory to Ukraine!" Syrsky concluded.
