On October 13, at approximately 8:40 PM, a VAZ 2111 and a DAF truck collided at an intersection near the village of Pantalia in the Rivne region. The driver of the car was extricated from the mangled vehicle, but he died in the hospital from his injuries.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Rivne region .
Investigators determined that the driver of the DAF, a 23-year-old resident of Volyn, failed to yield while making a left turn and collided with a VAZ vehicle driven by a 46-year-old resident of the Zakarpattia region.
"The driver of the car was hospitalized with serious injuries. However, despite intensive care, he could not be saved; he died several hours later," police said.
The truck driver was not injured and, according to a drunk driving test, he was sober.
An investigator from the Investigative Department opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the violation of traffic safety rules that resulted in the death of the victim.
