How ANC Mangistau volunteers help flood victims

According to Mereke Boranova, deputy head of the KGU “Kogamdyk kelisim” of the internal policy department of the Mangistau region, hundreds of volunteers from 14 to 65 years old have united to help residents of flood-affected regions. Neither schoolchildren nor pensioners spared their efforts, she emphasized. Volunteers helped with unloading humanitarian aid and accommodating the victims. Between April 9 and April 20, humanitarian aid was provided to 800 families from the city of Atyrau and the Zhylyoi district of the Atyrau region, more than 4,000 people were provided with food, clothing and hygiene items. And the help that volunteers provided in this regard was colossal,” noted Mereke Boranova.

From the beginning of the floods until now, residents of the country evacuated from flooded areas have continuously received food and basic necessities in humanitarian centers. One of these centers is located in the building of the House of Friendship in the 34th microdistrict. From March 31 to April 20, about 29 tons of humanitarian aid were collected for the affected neighbors from caring Mangistau residents, including representatives of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APK).

ANC volunteer Armen Muradov remembers these difficult days with trepidation. The representative of the Armenian ethnocultural association was pleasantly surprised by the cohesion of the residents of Mangistau, people of different nationalities.

Representatives of more than 130 nationalities live in our country and, as the Kazakh proverb says, unity has brought us together. Indeed, friendship is our strength. We live under the same shanyrak and, dare I say it, our duty is to help our compatriots in trouble. This is exactly how the Kazakhs showed themselves. Our men showed power and strength, in a single impulse they rose to fight the floods and went to help the victims,” Armen shared.

He added that ANC volunteers are always ready to help the victims – their compatriots.
