Kharkiv regional police, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, exposed a 21-year-old Kharkiv resident who organized an illegal route for draft-age men to leave Ukraine. According to investigators, for $25,000, she promised to smuggle one of them into Romania, bypassing official border crossings.

Law enforcement officials determined that the man was initially intended to be transported from Kharkiv to Uzhhorod and then illegally transported to the Romanian border. After they passed a temporary checkpoint on the way out of the Kharkiv region, the conscript handed the woman money. Immediately after receiving the money, the organizer was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators charged the suspect under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—illegal transportation of persons across the state border. This article carries a penalty of up to nine years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.
