SpaceX conducted another test of the Starship rocket, which turned out to be a real triumph for the version of the ship called V2 (Version 2), writes CNN .
The company reported that during today's flight, "all key test objectives were achieved, and valuable data was obtained for the preparation of the next generation of Starship and Super Heavy."
After three explosions during flights earlier this year, the rocket completed all planned tasks this time, including deploying satellite dummy rockets and successfully restarting its engine in space—a maneuver that had previously only succeeded during the first fully successful test in August.
However, much work remains. SpaceX must prove the system's readiness to launch real satellites and, ultimately, to land NASA astronauts on the Moon. This requires conducting a series of more complex tests on the new version—Starship Version 3, which will be larger and more powerful.
"Our focus is now on the next generation of Starship and Super Heavy, several prototypes of which are already in production. This version will be used for initial orbital flights, payload launches, propellant transfers, and other missions," SpaceX noted.
One of the company's main challenges will be developing the rocket's in-orbit refueling technology—without it, Starship will be unable to reach the Moon. Such a maneuver has never been attempted before in the history of space exploration.
