On the night of October 19, a series of drone attacks occurred across Russia. Fires broke out at a Rosneft oil refinery in Novokuibyshevsk and a Gazprom gas processing plant in Orenburg.
In Russia's Samara region, the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery caught fire after a drone attack, local Telegram channels, including ASTRA and Krymsky Veter , reported. Local residents posted footage of a large plume of smoke rising from the refinery.
Samara Region Governor Dmitry Fedorishchev confirmed the drone attack but did not elaborate on its consequences. According to Krymsky Veter, a Rosneft-owned oil refinery suffered direct hits—explosions, gunfire, and a large-scale fire were heard on the plant's premises.
The Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery is part of Rosneft's Samara Group of Oil Refineries. It produces jet fuel, motor oils, and rocket fuel. Its annual refining capacity exceeds 8.8 million tons of oil. This refinery has been the target of numerous attacks, including in March, August, and September of this year.
Additionally, drones attacked a gas processing plant in Orenburg on Sunday night. Regional Governor Yevgeny Solntsev reported this, noting that "partial damage to the infrastructure" and a fire broke out in one of the production facilities. According to Krymsky Veter, the plant is one of the largest in Russia, with a processing capacity of up to 37.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that 45 Ukrainian drones were allegedly shot down overnight over various regions of Russia and in occupied Crimea. Specifically, 12 were shot down in the Samara region, 11 in the Saratov region, five each in the Rostov and Voronezh regions, and one each in several other regions.
