The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, accused China of allegedly benefiting from the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine . Her words were reported by The Economist.
“They believe that the Ukrainian conflict is unpopular in China, and Beijing has to somehow justify why it is actually supporting this conflict, trying to soften the rhetoric and say: ‘You see, this is in our interests,'” the head of European diplomacy said.
According to Kallas, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi allegedly tried to convey this very position to her. She added that she discussed the situation with Japanese analysts.
