The President of the Volleyball Federation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Melnyk, called the action of the leaders of the national team, who refused to join the team and help it in the Golden Euroleague matches against Romania and Azerbaijan, a betrayal.
Melnyk told “Suspilno” about the reaction to this scandal of the new head coach Raul Losano and his own vision of the situation.
“This is a top coach, a coach with a world name. He came and says that he is in a trance, that he came for one team, and here is another. He has never seen this before. There is no reason why players would refuse to play for the national team. It is at the time war. These are traitors,” said Melnyk.
We will remind you that Oleg Plotnytskyi cited the desire to recover after a difficult season as part of Perugia as the reason for not coming to the location of the national team. In addition to him, the diagonal Barkom-Bats Vasyl Tupchii and 4 representatives of Prometheus – Yan Yereshchenko, Dmytro Teremenko, Gorden Brova and Vitaly Shchytkov – will not come to the national team.
By the way, this is not the first time that a scandal has occurred in the men’s volleyball team of Ukraine. Last year, volleyball players refused to play for the national team due to disagreements with the federation regarding pre-tournament premium applicants for a pass to the League of Nations.
Recently, “blue and yellow” got a new head coach. He became the Argentinian Raul Losano, who replaced Ugis Krastins.
