The German government does not want NATO to protect Ukrainian skies

The German government opposes NATO’s participation in the defense of the airspace over Ukraine.

According to media reports, politicians from the Christian Democratic Union, the Free Democratic Party and the “Greens” expressed sympathy for the creation of a protected zone in Ukrainian airspace, which could also be provided from NATO territory.

Gebeshreit said that now we are talking about strengthening the air defense of Ukraine. According to him, Germany is doing this by providing another Patriot air defense system.

“That should be our main concern at this point,” the spokesman said.

As reported, among the leading parties of Germany, opinions differed regarding the idea of the participation of NATO forces in “closing the sky” over part of Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielus Landsbergis, believes that Western countries could send their military instructors to Ukraine for on-site training of the Ukrainian military and protect them from Russian attacks with additional air defense systems.
