The Emergency Situations Department of the Karaganda region reminds about water safety rules

Today, June 13, a briefing was held at the regional communications site with the participation of Deputy Head of Emergency Situations Akylbek Akhmetzhanov. He drew attention to the fact that, according to Kazhydromet, summer this year will be hot. And since the swimming season has already begun, it is very important to follow safety measures.

According to the deputy, every year the largest number of incidents on reservoirs occurs in the Bukharzhyrau, Abai, Aktogay, Nura and Osakarovsky districts, as well as in the cities of Karaganda and Temirtau. They are least often recorded in the cities of Balkhash, Priozersk, Shakhtinsk, Saran, as well as in the Karkaralinsky and Shetsky districts.

In 2023, 16 people drowned during the swimming season, including one minor, while 12 people were rescued. All cases occurred in undesignated swimming areas.

In order to prevent emergency situations, the Emergency Situations Department of the Karaganda region reminds of the need to comply with the following rules:

– do not dive in prohibited areas and in natural bodies of water, as in these places there are differences in depth and the bottom may be dangerous;

– do not go into the water while drunk;

– do not jump from bridges, piers, boats and other places not intended for these purposes;

– do not sail past passing boats and ships;

– do not use air mattresses and rings in windy weather. When using air mattresses, it is strictly forbidden to give them to people who cannot swim;

– do not swim in the dark;

– It is strictly forbidden to allow children to enter water bodies without adult supervision.

Dangerous areas of reservoirs in the Karaganda region are equipped with prohibitory and warning signs. In total, 1,327 warning and prohibition signs have been installed in the region since 2020. This year, akimats have installed 133 signs, with an additional 90 planned to be installed.

“I would like to once again appeal to the entire adult population, ensure strict control over children and under no circumstances leave children unattended! For leaving children unattended, adults bear administrative and other responsibility in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Remember that your safety and the safety of your children is in your hands,” added Akylbek Akhmetzhanov.
