Yulia Svyrydenko asked not to comment on the agreement with the US for now
The government aims to reach consensus on the minerals agreement with the US and calls for refraining from commenting on it, Yulia Svyridenko noted.
Ukraine has received a draft economic agreement on subsoil from the United States. The document is currently being processed. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko during the government hour in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, March 28.
"This is a working version, which essentially reflects the position of American legal advisors. We are forming our position and now the process has also been formalized," she said.
Svyridenko noted that the government is aiming to reach consensus on a minerals agreement with the US and is currently urging people to refrain from commenting on it.
"When necessary, we will of course consult the Verkhovna Rada. Any public discussions currently regarding the text of this agreement only harm the negotiations and prevent us from having a constructive discussion with our American partners," the official added.
We will remind, this week President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the US has offered Ukraine a new major agreement on rare earth metals. The issue of nuclear power plants is not in it. And yesterday he said that the American side is changing the terms of the agreement .
In turn, People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that the new version of the agreement between Ukraine and the United States consists of 58 pages and raises serious concerns , because "it is clearly not in our favor."
