The data that was documented within this program is protected, the US Secretary of State emphasized.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied reports that the program to document abducted Ukrainian children received short-term funding after it was suspended on January 25.

He said this while talking to journalists at a press conference on Friday, March 28.

"The program is not funded. It was part of the cuts that were made, but we protected the data (on abducted Ukrainian children – ed.) and made sure that we have it and it can be transferred to any appropriate authorities. We will notify Congress about this," he said.

According to Rubio, the data that was documented under this program is protected.

"The data is protected. We have protected the data. We will pass it on to the appropriate party," the Secretary of State added.

As a reminder, on March 27, it became known that the program to document abducted Ukrainian children received short-term funding after it was suspended on January 25.

Earlier, media reported that $26 million in war crimes evidence could have been deleted due to the US halting a program to track Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
