This is madness: Carrick harshly criticized the referee after the match between Manchester United and Bournemouth

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick spoke about the match of the 31st round of the Premier League, in which the “Red Devils” drew with Bournemouth (2:2).

The English specialist was dissatisfied with the result. He believes that his players deserved the victory and separately commented on the work of the refereeing team.

“I’m disappointed – we created enough chances and had enough opportunities throughout the match. There was a great opportunity to go 2-0 up, but we only got one penalty and the other one wasn’t. In fact, they were exactly the same situations – a delay with both hands. The referee made a mistake in one of the episodes, so I don’t know which one, but we didn’t get the second penalty. I think both episodes were penalties and that was the key moment in the game, after which everything turned into chaos.

“It was a very important episode and I don’t understand how you can give one penalty and not give another – it’s crazy. It’s as obvious as it can be – you’ve already given one penalty, so don’t give another one… If he thinks the first penalty is right, then the second one should be right. I don’t understand how it couldn’t be given. And then the Bournemouth goal happened – and then chaos began,” said Carrick.

The Manchester United coach also questioned the sending off of Harry Maguire, after whose foul a penalty was awarded. He believes that the referee was no longer in control of the game at that moment, which ultimately affected the result.

“Was Maguire’s sending off harsh? Maybe. It was chaos at that point, so decisions were being made in different directions. If we had been awarded a second penalty earlier, then this sending off might not have happened. You have to give Bournemouth credit for their game – very energetic, positive and one that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

“Playing with ten men for so long and having to make substitutions, the guys from the bench who finished the game did very well. I’m glad we managed the last few minutes, which could have been very difficult, but we managed it well. As for the break before the next game: it is what it is. It’s not a problem. The guys are travelling and it feels more because of the international break, but we will be ready for the Leeds game when it comes,” Carrick concluded.

Manchester United are currently third in the Premier League table, four points ahead of fourth-placed Aston Villa.
