The possibility of replacing a candidate in the upcoming elections in the States is being discussed so seriously that the Democratic Party has included a relevant question in sociological surveys of the population.
At the party convention in Chicago in August 2024, US President Joe Biden will announce his decision not to participate in the upcoming elections and will propose to nominate Michelle Obama, the wife of former head of the White House Barack Obama, instead. This was reported by Der Spiegel on Sunday, May 5, with reference to its own sources.
The Democratic Party is said to have even included Michelle Obama in its polls of potential candidates.
According to journalists, the Democrats decided to take such a step after polling Americans who said they would prefer to see a woman as president, and that Biden is too old for another presidential term.
“Many people are also afraid of ex-president Donald Trump, who is not much younger than the current leader of the country and spends several days a week in court because of accusations of trying to “buy the silence of a porn actress”, – the publication indicates.
Der Spiegel adds that Michelle Obama previously called politics a “dirty business”.
