Safonov wants to leave PSG

Goalkeeper Safonov may leave PSG and move to a club in Spain or Portugal.

Russian national team and French PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov has expressed his desire to leave the club due to a lack of playing time, according to Foot Parisien .

According to a source, Safonov is unhappy with being relegated to the second-choice role and doubts his future at the Parisian club. The player is considering a move to a Spanish or Portuguese club. PSG sporting director Luis Campos is reportedly already working on a possible transfer.

Safonov previously shared his impressions of playing for the Parisian club. He posted a photo from the bench on his Stories and noted how frustrating it was to never know who would be on the field.

Safonov did not play a single official match for PSG during the 2025/2026 season. He is designated as the team’s reserve goalkeeper.

26-year-old Safonov joined PSG from Krasnodar in June 2024 for €20 million. His contract runs until the summer of 2029.
